Farm Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a 12-month fixed-term Farm Veterinary Surgeon opportunity based in Bodmin, with salary up to £65,000 DOE and relocation allowance up to £2,000. It is a hands-on ambulatory role where you’ll support a wide range of farm clients, from smallholdings through to large beef, sheep and mixed farms.

The caseload is varied and practical, covering TB testing, herd health planning, preventative medicine, emergency care, dispensary work and artificial insemination, predominantly in cattle. You’ll be working closely with the local farming community, helping to build long-term client relationships and support livestock health and farm productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out ambulatory farm work across a varied client base, including smallholdings and larger beef, sheep and mixed farms.
• Provide TB testing, herd health planning, preventative medicine, emergency care and dispensary support.
• Undertake artificial insemination work, predominantly in cattle.
• Take part in a shared on-call rota.
• Work occasional sole charge as part of the role.
• Manage your own day while remaining supported by the wider farm team.

Requirements

• Confident Farm Veterinary Surgeon.
• TB testing qualification.
• Confidence working independently.
• Ability to build strong client relationships and work closely with the farming community.

About the Practice

Kernow Veterinary Group, Kernow Farm and Equine is based at Units 1 and 2 Woods Browning Industrial Estate, Respryn Road, Bodmin, PL31 1DQ. The practice treats farm animals and equine, and this vacancy sits within the farm side of the business.

It is part of IVC Evidensia, and the advert describes an experienced, collaborative farm team with support from a dedicated TB testing team, ACA, Vet Tech and Client Care colleagues. Time off in lieu is used to help keep workloads manageable throughout the year.
