Clinical Director

About the Role

This Clinical Director position is built for an experienced veterinary leader who wants real influence over clinical direction, team development and practice culture. The role is based across Aspen and Ewell, with around 3 days at Aspen and 1 day at Ewell each week.

You’ll work 40 hours per week across 4 or 5 days, balancing clinical leadership with a strong focus on sustainable practice performance. Working in partnership with the Centre Director, you’ll help shape how the practice develops while supporting colleagues, patients and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the clinical direction of the practice in partnership with the Centre Director.
• Champion clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and reflective practice.
• Support colleagues with complex clinical decision-making.
• Promote evidence-based and contextualised veterinary medicine.
• Maintain professional, ethical and regulatory standards.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement across clinical services.
• Recruit, develop and retain clinicians.
• Coach and mentor colleagues, including graduates and developing vets.
• Support the development of future clinical leaders.
• Build an engaged, inclusive and psychologically safe clinical team.
• Strengthen client communication, shared decision-making and community relationships.
• Use client feedback, complaints and data to improve practice performance.
• Contribute to wider leadership across Kin Vet Community.

Requirements

• RCVS registration as a Veterinary Surgeon.
• Significant experience in small animal practice.
• Experience leading, mentoring and developing veterinary teams.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of practice performance.
• A commitment to clinical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Previous Clinical Director, Head Vet or similar senior leadership experience is desirable.
• VetGDP Adviser experience is desirable.
• Experience leading clinical governance programmes is desirable.
• Experience using operational and financial data to drive improvement is desirable.

• Salary of £70,000 to £80,000 depending on experience.

About the Practice

The role sits within Kin Vet Community and is based across Aspen and Ewell in Surbiton. The practice gives the Clinical Director significant local autonomy while working alongside a Centre Director to deliver wider strategy and sustainable business performance.

The position is focused on small animal practice and includes leadership across clinical excellence, people development, client experience and practice sustainability.
