About the Role
Kingsway Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its friendly, well-established team in Skipton. You'll be involved in all aspects of nursing careāfrom clinics through to in-patient support before, during and after surgery. With a 1:6 weekend rota and a four-day working week structure (10-hour shifts between 7:30am and 8:30pm), this role offers a genuine work-life balance whilst keeping you engaged with interesting cases.
Set in the picturesque market town of Skipton within the Yorkshire Dales, the practice has been serving the local community for over 80 years. The team includes several certificate holders with specialist interests, and the modern, well-equipped facility supports referral work in orthopaedics, cardiology and soft tissue surgery alongside routine small animal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care across clinics and in-patient wards
- Support surgical procedures, including pre- and post-operative care
- Utilise modern diagnostic equipment (in-house laboratory, ECG, digital X-ray, endoscopy, ultrasound with colour flow Doppler)
- Contribute to the practice's referral caseload in specialist areas such as orthopaedics and cardiology
- Deliver preventative health clinics (diabetes, senior checks, weight management, rabbit clinics, dental awareness)
- Provide friendly, evidence-based advice to clients regarding pet healthcare
- Work flexibly across the main Skipton surgery and branch sites (Cross Hills and Silsden) as needed
Requirements
- Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
- Experience in small animal practice (specific years not stated; all experience levels considered)
- Strong clinical nursing skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

About the Practice
Kingsway Veterinary Hospital is an established practice operating 24/7 with a team of fully qualified, experienced vets and nurses dedicated to providing up-to-date, compassionate care. The main Skipton surgery underwent full refurbishment in 2012 and is equipped with modern facilities including in-house laboratory, ECG, digital X-ray, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and ultrasound with colour flow Doppler. Several vets hold further qualifications enabling the practice to offer referral services in orthopaedics, spinal surgery, soft tissue surgery and cardiology to local practices.
The practice places strong emphasis on preventative health care, running free nurse-led clinics and health checks throughout the year. Part of IVC Evidensia (Mars Veterinary Health), Kingsway operates three sites: the main surgery in Skipton, Cross Hills (neutering and minor procedures), and Silsden (consulting).
