About the Role

Lamond Veterinary Clinic is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their small animal team in Livingston on a full-time basis. This is a genuine 40-hour, Monday-to-Friday role with flexible shifts between 8am and 7pm, plus a manageable 2-in-9 Saturday rota (8am–5pm). Crucially, there are no out-of-hours or on-call duties, giving you the work-life balance many practices promise but rarely deliver.

You’ll be part of a modern, fully equipped clinic in Murieston that’s been recently refurbished and benefits from excellent transport links—there are two train stations nearby, one right next to the practice. The location offers easy access to Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as a gateway to Scotland’s Highlands for those who enjoy outdoor living.

As an integral member of the clinical team, you’ll deliver high-quality nursing care across a range of first opinion cases, working collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and colleagues to support both patient outcomes and client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct nursing consultations and manage pharmacy duties
  • Perform radiography including dental X-rays using digital equipment
  • Provide general inpatient care using the practice’s dedicated dog and cat wards
  • Assist with theatre and surgical procedures in the dedicated theatre
  • Contribute to clinical standards and support the ongoing development of patient care within the practice

Requirements

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
  • Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
  • Team-orientated mindset with enthusiasm for delivering high standards of care

Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Welcome bonus of £1,000
  • 6.6 weeks’ annual leave plus your birthday off, with increasing allowance based on length of service
  • £550 CPD allowance plus 24 hours paid leave for professional development
  • RCVS and VDS fees covered
  • Certificate support and clear progression pathways into Senior Nurse, Referral, or leadership roles
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies including maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay
  • Pension scheme
  • Healthcare Cash Plan and Cycle to Work scheme
  • Discounted veterinary care for your own pets
  • Voluntary benefits including Green Cars salary sacrifice and access to retailer discounts and cashback
