About the Role
Village Vet Winchmore Hill is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to take the next step into a leadership position. You will work closely with the Lead Vet and Clinical Nursing Manager to support a nursing team of 6 RVNs and 2 Patient Care Assistants, delivering high-quality patient care and clinical excellence.
This is a full-time role with a 42-hour working week. You will work 8-hour shifts (8am to 4.30pm, 9.30am to 6pm, or 12pm to 8.30pm), sharing Saturday rotas and one bank holiday per year. Approximately 90 to 95 percent of your time will be spent on clinical duties, with the remainder allocated to line management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the nursing team by example, ensuring high standards of patient and client care through clinical expertise, delegation, and mentoring
- Provide direct line management to allocated nursing team members, including performance conversations, development reviews, and recruitment
- Undertake general nursing duties across the practice, maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to infection control protocols
- Support clinical initiatives and quality improvement projects, including incident reporting and compliance with RCVS Practice Standards Scheme
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and the senior leadership team to deliver an exceptional client experience
- Champion a positive workplace culture based on respect, collaboration, and engagement, promoting staff wellbeing
- Contribute to the practice's financial health by managing costs, ensuring correct charging, and minimising waste
- Participate in relevant CPD and training, sharing learnings with the team to improve patient care delivery
- Ensure compliance with all practice policies, group policies, health and safety regulations, and RCVS requirements
Requirements
- Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Proven experience as an RVN with demonstrated leadership potential or prior team leadership experience
- Strong clinical knowledge and ability to mentor and develop less experienced nursing staff
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients, team members, and colleagues
- Commitment to clinical standards, quality improvement, and continued professional development
- Line management experience or demonstrated ability to take on direct reports is desirable
- Financial awareness to contribute to budget discussions and cost management
