About the Role
You'll join a multidisciplinary specialist referral hospital as part of the theatre nursing team, working a permanent twilight shift from 2pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday. This is a 40-hour-per-week role that combines the intellectual challenge of advanced surgical nursing with the security of consistent, predictable hoursāideal for RVNs who want theatre experience without the traditional rotating rota demands.
The role focuses on supporting the hospital's evening and emergency surgical caseload across a range of specialist disciplines. You'll work alongside surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing colleagues, and interns in a genuinely collaborative environment where kindness, teamwork, and continuous learning are built into the culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide scrub nursing support across advanced and emergency surgical procedures
- Monitor anaesthesia for complex referral cases and support anaesthetic management
- Assist with theatre preparation, recovery, and patient flow to maintain optimal surgical safety
- Support emergency and urgent surgical cases across multiple surgical disciplines
- Uphold the highest standards of infection control, asepsis, and theatre practice
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary hospital team to deliver outstanding patient outcomes
Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
- Strong interest in surgery, anaesthesia, or emergency care
- Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced referral hospital environment
- Excellent team player with a commitment to communication and collaboration
- Pride in delivering high-standard nursing care and infection control
- Previous referral experience is desirable but not essentialāthe hospital welcomes motivated RVNs keen to develop specialist skills
