About the Role
This is a structured, full-time rotating internship based at Livingston, offering hands-on exposure to multiple specialist disciplines within the UK's largest referral hospital network. You'll rotate through internal medicine, surgery, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, oncology, emergency and critical care, neurology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and dentistry, working alongside experienced specialists from day one.
You'll be part of a vibrant community of over 100 rotating interns and 100+ residents across Linnaeus's referral group. The programme is designed with your development as the priority, combining clinical experience with structured teaching, mentorship, and clear pathways into advanced practice, residencies, or academia.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain hands-on clinical experience across 10 specialist disciplines under direct supervision
- Participate in diagnostic, surgical, and patient care activities across the multi-disciplinary team
- Engage in small-group seminars, weekly clinical teaching, and monthly film reading sessions
- Conduct clinical research with full support, with opportunities to present at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Complete the year-long research training course integrated into the programme
- Attend clinical reasoning rounds and ongoing professional skills and wellbeing workshops
- Work towards CertAVP qualification (all rotating interns are enrolled)
Requirements
- Registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in small animal practice
- Must have completed your RCVS Veterinary Graduate Development Programme (VetGDP) or be close to completion
- Available to begin at the earliest opportunity (flexible start date negotiable)
- Visa sponsorship available if required
