This is a full-time permanent position offering a rare gift in veterinary practice: a sustainable 4-day week with no on-call or out-of-hours commitments. You'll work 40 hours across Monday to Thursday, plus alternate Saturdays and one Sunday in six, with time off in lieu available or negotiable as part of your salary package. This role is based primarily at Blythwood Vets' main clinics in Bushey and Hatch End, though occasional sole charge work at the smaller branches in Stanmore and Northwood may be required.
You'll deliver a varied caseload split roughly 40% consultations and 60% surgery, supported by an experienced and highly skilled nursing team who take real ownership of inpatient care and monitoring. The practice actively encourages professional development, with several team members currently pursuing medical and dermatology certificates, and an external peripatetic orthopaedic surgeon visiting regularly. Bushey itself is a charming Hertfordshire town with green spaces and village character, yet Watford is minutes away and Watford Junction offers fast trains to central London in under 20 minutes.
Many clients have been with the practice for years, and a high proportion of patients are insured, giving you the opportunity to build genuine relationships and follow cases through rather than rushing through high-volume appointments.
