This is a part-time opportunity perfect for a small animal vet seeking genuine flexibility without the on-call pressure. You’ll work 10 hours per week—one day a week plus a 1:4 Saturday rota—with no overnight or out-of-hours commitments. Whether you’re looking for a mix of consultations and surgery, or consultations only, the team can accommodate your preferred working style.
Based in Dalkeith near Edinburgh, the practice sits within easy commuting distance of Livingston, Dunfermline, Falkirk, Stirling, and surrounding Midlothian, East Lothian, West Lothian and Fife areas. You’ll be joining a forward-thinking practice that prioritises evidence-based medicine, fear-free practice principles, and continuity of care.
Market Cross Veterinary Clinic is a modern, progressive small animal practice in Dalkeith. The team comprises four experienced vets, two registered veterinary nurses, a student veterinary nurse, a patient care assistant, and dedicated reception staff. The practice is well-equipped with digital X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and in-house laboratory facilities, plus separate dog and cat wards and waiting areas.
The clinic is part of CVS, part of Mars Veterinary Health. CVS invests significantly in colleague support, clinical development, and workplace wellbeing. The practice prioritises evidence-based medicine, fear-free practice certification, and continuity of care—with team members running successful desensitisation appointments to build patient confidence. Central support teams handle HR, recruitment, payroll, IT, finance, and procurement, freeing clinical colleagues to focus on patient care.
