About the Role
You'll step into a key leadership position at Medivet Borehamwood, a first opinion practice with excellent clinical support from its sister clinic, Medivet Watford 24 Hour Hospital. This full-time maternity cover role is perfect for an experienced RVN looking to develop their leadership skills while delivering hands-on patient care in a varied, fast-paced environment.
As Head Veterinary Nurse, you'll be accountable for the clinical leadership of the nursing team, ensuring exceptional care for patients and clients while maintaining the highest regulatory and operational standards. You'll work closely with the Branch Partners and Veterinary Surgeons, leading by example and fostering a positive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the nursing and support team, driving engagement and colleague development
- Deliver exceptional inpatient and patient care, including nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 procedures
- Manage patient admissions, discharges, and monitoring
- Support consultations, theatre work, and surgical procedures
- Assist with nurse consults and client education
- Oversee stock control and maintain clinical protocols
- Ensure compliance with RCVS and practice standards
- Support the smooth operational running of the practice
Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS registered)
- Previous leadership or senior nursing experience
- Passion for delivering outstanding patient and client care
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Collaborative approach and ability to work well within a team
- Proactive, positive, and supportive of colleague development
- Comfortable in a varied, fast-paced environment
- Clinical coaching qualification (desirable but not essential)
