Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

You'll be the backbone of the clinical team at this Petts Wood practice, supporting nurses and veterinary surgeons with in-patient care and surgical procedures. This is a hands-on role where you'll be trusted with real responsibility—from patient monitoring to assisting in theatre, all whilst delivering the exceptional care that clients expect. Working 40 hours per week including some weekend, on-call and bank holiday shifts, you'll be part of a supportive team that values every team member and invests in your development. Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional client and patient care during consultations, surgeries and in-patient procedures, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and practice standards
• Monitor and care for hospitalised pets, including walking, toileting, feeding and general welfare checks
• Support nurses and vets with theatre preparation, surgical assistance and post-operative care
• Work collaboratively within a supportive clinical team to maintain high standards of animal welfare
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised practice environment

Requirements

• Experience within the veterinary industry is preferred, though not essential
• Genuine passion for animal care and client service
• Ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure
• Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Must be over 18 years old (due to Health and Safety Executive guidelines for this role)
