Quality Engineering Manager

About the Role

This is a hybrid position based in Watford where you'll take accountability for the quality of software used across Medivet's practices and client-facing platforms. You'll work at the intersection of engineering excellence and organisational culture, defining quality standards, improving visibility throughout the delivery lifecycle, and driving the adoption of modern testing practices.

Your focus will be on embedding quality engineering standards, partnering with engineering and architecture teams to ensure systems are designed for testability and reliability, and expanding automated testing across applications to reduce manual regression work.

Key Responsibilities

• Take accountability for software quality across Medivet's practice and client-facing platforms
• Define and embed quality engineering standards across the organisation and with third-party partners
• Improve visibility and transparency of quality throughout the delivery lifecycle
• Partner with engineering and architecture teams to ensure systems are designed for testability, reliability, and maintainability
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering and testing tools where they add meaningful value
• Increase use of automated quality gates within CI/CD pipelines
• Expand automated testing across applications and reduce reliance on manual regression testing
• Shape user stories and acceptance criteria to support effective testing

Requirements

• Experience testing distributed systems and APIs, with exposure to event-driven architectures
• Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining automated tests
• Track record of improving CI/CD quality gates and automated validation
• Knowledge of test data setup, database observation, and scenario simulation
• Familiarity with observability and production monitoring
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence without direct authority
• Experience implementing multiple types of testing
• Collaborative mindset with confidence working autonomously
