About the Role

You’ll be the first person clients meet—whether they’re walking through the door or calling with a concern. This 3-day-per-week position offers genuine flexibility alongside a supportive team environment where your contribution is genuinely valued. Based in South Harrow, you’ll manage the rhythm of the practice reception, from greeting clients to optimising the appointment diary and handling the steady stream of calls that keeps things running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet clients on arrival, manage check-ins, and maintain accurate client records
  • Answer incoming calls, handle client enquiries, and manage message taking
  • Triage emergency appointment requests, contact clients to prioritise bookings, and reschedule non-urgent appointments as needed
  • Manage the practice appointment diary to maximise availability based on team skillset
  • Ensure online appointment slots are kept available and current for client bookings
  • Process repeat prescription requests from clients
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive reception and clinical team

Requirements

  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills—calm, friendly, and professional
  • Good numeracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with online appointment booking systems
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, remain calm under pressure, and adapt to changing demands
  • Team player mentality with a willingness to learn and support colleagues
  • Previous veterinary reception experience is desirable but not essential
