Ready to join a welcoming South London practice where clinical autonomy meets genuine team support? Medivet Streatham is looking for a confident small animal vet to grow with them during an exciting expansion phase—with flexible weekend options and a thriving local community on your doorstep.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

Flexible weekend commitments negotiable at interview: option of 1 in 3 Saturdays or 1 in 6 full weekends at Medivet Camberwell 24-Hour Hospital.

About the Role

This is your chance to join Medivet Streatham at a pivotal moment as the practice embarks on expansion and growth within the wider Medivet network. You’ll be delivering high-quality small animal care to a diverse and engaged local community in the heart of South London, working in a bright, well-designed practice space that reflects the team’s commitment to both patient and staff wellbeing.

You’ll work as part of a close-knit team including a Branch Partner, an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse, and two Veterinary Care Assistants—all dedicated to fostering a collaborative, supportive environment. Whilst you’ll have clinical autonomy in this role, you’re never working in isolation; the entire Medivet network, including 24-hour hospitals and referral centres, sits behind you. Weekend commitments are flexible and negotiable: options include working 1 in 3 Saturdays or 1 in 6 full weekends at Medivet Camberwell’s 24-hour hospital, ensuring genuine work-life balance.

Streatham itself is vibrant and approachable—think independent coffee shops, family-run restaurants, charity stores, and plenty of green spaces. It’s a neighbourhood where you can genuinely live as well as work, with a real sense of community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional clinical care across consults and surgery, maintaining the highest regulatory and operational standards
  • Develop tailored treatment plans in partnership with clients
  • Work confidently as the consulting vet, managing cases from initial assessment through to completion in the dedicated theatre
  • Collaborate with the wider team and contribute to clinical development across the Medivet communities
  • Utilise the practice’s facilities—two consultation rooms, dedicated theatre, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, dental x-ray, and separate dog/cat waiting areas—to deliver comprehensive care

Requirements

  • Qualified MRCVS with a minimum of 2 years’ UK small animal GP experience
  • Comfortable working sole charge whilst maintaining access to wider team support
  • Passionate about clinical excellence and client care
  • A collaborative team player who values a supportive practice culture

Benefits

  • Health & Wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance and Health Cash Plan from day one, 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support, Life Assurance (3x salary)
  • Annual Leave: 5 weeks’ holiday plus Bank Holidays (rising with service), plus an extra paid ‘Day for You’
  • Professional Development: £1,500 CPD allowance and 3 days’ paid CPD leave per year, access to Clinical Communities and internal development programmes, funded certificates and career pathways, funded RCVS, VDS, and BVA membership fees
  • Flexibility & Support: Negotiable weekend rota, relocation support and visa sponsorship available, sabbatical options based on length of service
  • Lifestyle Perks: Cycle to Work scheme, Season Ticket loans, discounts on Medivet products and services

About the Practice

Medivet Streatham is a single-site small animal practice nestled in the residential heart of South London. The practice operates from a spacious, thoughtfully designed floor featuring two consultation rooms, a dedicated surgical theatre, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, dental x-ray capability, and separate waiting and kennel facilities for dogs and cats. It’s a practice that prioritises both clinical quality and team experience.

Medivet itself is a leading UK and European veterinary care provider, operating over 400 practices including 24-hour emergency centres and specialist referral hospitals. Rather than being a chain where you work in isolation, Medivet operates as a genuine network and community—giving you access to clinical expertise, support, and career development opportunities across the entire group. The company philosophy centres on providing the right treatment for pets and the right support for people.
