Veterinary Laboratory Assistant

About the Role

This is a blended support role combining customer-facing service with laboratory operations in Medivet's veterinary diagnostic laboratory. You'll be the point of contact for clients while also managing sample receipt, preparation, and data recording across multiple disciplines: Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Cytology, and Molecular Biology. The team prioritises personal customer care, quality, and innovation in delivering diagnostic services to veterinary practices and their patients.

This full-time permanent position operates on alternating Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday shifts, with start times from 6am, so flexibility is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide information to customers about new and existing diagnostic tests and services
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, handling enquiries and escalating issues as needed
• Maintain accurate Client Relationship Management (CRM) database entries and updates
• Receive biological samples from customers and prepare them for laboratory testing
• Record results and data into the laboratory management system and manage supporting documentation
• Distribute laboratory supplies to customers and provide support with sample-related questions or concerns
• Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing deliveries and complete general laboratory tasks
• Support quality standards maintenance within the department, including participation in audits

Requirements

• Experience working in a customer-facing environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated organisational ability with capacity to prioritise tasks
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy setting
• Collaborative team working approach
• Flexibility to work across alternating Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday patterns with early 6am starts
