Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of patient care in this Medivet practice in Winfrith Newburgh, near Dorchester. You’ll support the veterinary and nursing team with in-patient procedures and daily pet care, ensuring every animal receives exceptional attention. This is a full-time permanent position where you’ll work collaboratively in a supportive environment that genuinely cares about your wellbeing.

You’ll be hands-on with patient care—from monitoring recovering animals to handling feeding, walking and toileting duties—whilst maintaining the high standards Medivet practices are known for. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional patient care during and after surgical procedures, supporting the vet and nurse team
• Monitor in-patients and provide daily care including feeding, walking, toileting and comfort checks
• Support surgery and procedure setup, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and operational standards
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe, clean and organised practice environment
• Prioritise client communication and support throughout their pet’s care journey

Requirements

• Genuine passion for animal welfare and pet care
• Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure
• Strong team player with flexibility and willingness to learn
• Excellent client care and communication skills
• Must be over 18 years old (Health and Safety requirement for this role)
• No specific qualifications required—training will be provided
