Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon to join a long-established independent practice in Nottinghamshire. The role can be full time or part time, with a normal start time of 8am, and there is no mandatory out of hours or weekend work.

That said, fitting into 1 in 5 consulting weekends from the Newark Surgery would be ideal. The weekend rota runs on a Saturday from 12.30pm to 5.30pm and a Sunday from 10am to 4.30pm, with 2 full days off in the following week. If part time, this can be negotiated to be paid instead. There is also an optional separate opportunity to include out of hours on call work, with a generous time back and on call package.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide small animal veterinary care within an independent practice setting.
• Take part in consulting weekends on a 1 in 5 basis if this suits the role.
• Work a normal start time of 8am.
• Be happy to be surgical sole charge on occasion.
• Contribute to a team environment and, where preferred, a consulting only role that may include sole charge at a consulting branch.
• Work alongside the team supporting on call cover and, if desired, optional out of hours on call duties.

Requirements

• Experience as a small animal veterinary surgeon.
• Comfortable with occasional surgical sole charge.
• Willing to work in a team environment.
• Ability to suit a consulting only role if preferred, including possible sole charge at a consulting branch.

Minster Veterinary Centre Ltd is described as a long established independent, client friendly practice in Nottinghamshire. The team works across 4 fully functioning surgeries and 2 branch practices, with a bustling and friendly workplace culture.

The wider practice provides services for companion animals, backyard pets, equine cases and production animals. Facilities mentioned include digital x-ray with dental x-ray, digital endoscope and rhinoscope, ultrasound, ECG, suction, multiparameter monitors, upgraded Idexx lab equipment at all branches, an in house microbiology lab through Southwell, in house orthopaedics including TPLO, and access to an in house cardiologist and ophthalmologist.
