No Sunday or out-of-hours work. Schedule: 4 days per week plus 1 in 3 Saturdays.

About the Role

This is a clinical leadership position at a thriving first opinion small animal practice in Tamworth, Staffordshire. You’ll head up the clinical team while enjoying a genuinely manageable schedule: four days per week plus one Saturday in three, with no Sunday or out-of-hours commitments. The practice is investing significantly in new facilities and up-to-date equipment, giving you the tools to deliver excellent medicine alongside your leadership responsibilities.

You’ll work with an experienced management team who handle the business side, allowing you to focus on what you do best—clinical practice and team development. A partnership track is available for the right candidate, making this an opportunity to build real equity and longevity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the clinical team of four veterinary surgeons and six nurses
  • Support, mentor, and develop nursing and veterinary staff
  • Maintain high clinical standards and guide clinical decision-making across the practice
  • Contribute to clinical governance and quality assurance
  • Work collaboratively with the experienced practice management team on strategic decisions

Requirements

  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent)
  • Current RCVS registration
  • Proven experience in small animal practice with strong clinical skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading a clinical team or mentoring/supporting colleagues
  • Professional and collaborative approach to team management

About the Practice

This established first opinion small animal practice serves the Tamworth area with a committed team of four veterinary surgeons, six registered veterinary nurses, three receptionists, and two practice managers. The practice is currently undergoing major refurbishment and investment to provide new facilities and modern diagnostic and treatment technologies.
