Dedicated out-of-hours emergency position. 30 hours across 3 days per week, predominantly weekends and bank holidays with some weekday hours available in weeks without bank holidays. Part of 24/7 emergency care team.

About the Role

This part-time opportunity sits within New Priory Vets’ state-of-the-art flagship hospital in central Brighton, providing out-of-hours emergency care over weekends and bank holidays. You’ll work 30 hours across 3 days per week, mostly weekends but with some weekday hours available in weeks without bank holidays. Alongside the dedicated ECC team, you’ll consult and care for inpatients, delivering emergency services to local referring clinics whilst benefiting from on-site specialist support through Brighton Veterinary Referrals.

The hospital boasts comprehensive facilities including medicine, surgery, radiography, CT, ultrasound, and dentistry services. Located just 5 minutes from Brighton train station and 20 minutes from the city centre, the practice sits in an area perfect for those balancing vibrant urban life with easy access to beautiful countryside and outdoor activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide out-of-hours emergency and critical care services across weekends and bank holidays
  • Consult and care for inpatients alongside the ECC team
  • Deliver emergency services to local referring clinics within the Brighton area
  • Work collaboratively as an essential team player within P.E.T.S.
  • Contribute to excellent clinical care and client service standards
  • Liaise with on-site specialists at Brighton Veterinary Referrals as required

Requirements

  • RCVS registration or eligibility for UK registration
  • Some years of experience (3+ years post-qualification preferred)
  • Confidence and competence in emergency and critical care (ECC certificate preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues
  • Passion for animal and client care with a team-focused approach
