About the Role

Orby Vets is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its well-established small animal practice in the charming village of Orby, just outside Skegness. This is a daytime-only position with no out-of-hours requirements—your weekends are yours. You’ll work 4×10-hour shifts (Monday to Friday, 8.30am–6.30pm, with flexibility around exact hours), and the practice is open to discussion about working patterns to suit the right candidate.

The practice sits in a scenic rural setting offering easy access to the Lincolnshire coastline and the beautiful Wolds—ideal for those seeking an excellent work-life balance without compromising on interesting casework. You’ll be joining a busy, friendly first-opinion practice with a loyal and growing client base, supported by experienced Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, and two Student Veterinary Nurses.

The practice is well-equipped with recently upgraded ultrasound, computed radiography, multiparameter monitoring, and blood pressure monitoring. Dental radiography is being introduced, and the team is committed to investing in additional equipment to support your clinical interests and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-opinion small animal care for dogs, cats, rabbits, and other companion animals
  • Work up cases thoroughly in-house where appropriate, with access to a comprehensive range of in-house services: anaesthesia, cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine, neurology, and orthopaedics
  • Contribute to the supportive and collaborative clinical environment alongside experienced vets and nursing staff
  • Engage in continued professional development and clinical improvements via the practice’s Quality Improvement and Infection Prevention & Control programmes

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS)
  • Experience in small animal practice (not specified as mandatory, but experience is implied)
  • Commitment to high clinical and operational standards (practice is RCVS Core Standards accredited)

  • Professional Memberships: BVA membership, VDS cover, and RCVS fees covered
  • Health & Wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance, 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental/surrogacy pay)
  • Pension: Company pension scheme with employer contribution
  • Lifestyle Benefits: Cycle to Work scheme, Green Cars Scheme, voluntary benefits, retail discounts/cashback, discounted pet treatment at IVC Evidensia practices

About the Practice

The practice is RCVS Core Standards accredited and part of the IVC Evidensia network, a global collaboration of practices, hospitals, and referral centres. The team is built on a foundation of experienced Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, and Student Veterinary Nurses, creating a collaborative and welcoming working environment.

The practice is committed to investing in its people, premises, and processes.
