About the Role

This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week as a Veterinary Nurse Team Leader at PDSA Huyton, a busy out-of-hours site serving Liverpool and the surrounding area. You’ll step into a leadership position that sits between the clinical frontline and practice management—supporting the Head Nurse while leading a team of Registered Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants across theatre, inpatient care, and consultation areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead part of the nursing team, overseeing day-to-day workflow across theatre, inpatient care, and consults to ensure consistently high standards
  • Support and coach Veterinary Nurses and Care Assistants, providing clear feedback and setting the tone for clinical excellence
  • Deputise for the Head Nurse as needed, stepping into senior clinical and management decisions
  • Champion PDSA’s Pet Wellbeing services, promoting prevention, education, and proactive healthcare to clients
  • Contribute to case discussion and clinical problem-solving, drawing on the practice’s deep pool of specialist knowledge
  • Maintain high standards of client care and patient welfare whilst supporting team morale and cohesion

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
  • Track record of strong clinical performance and excellent client care
  • Proven ability to lead or support a team—demonstrating a collaborative, can-do approach
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment
  • Genuine commitment to teamwork and supporting colleagues in their development
  • Passion for making a difference to pets and people in your local community

  • Salary: £32,220–£35,582 per annum
  • Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, full-time permanent contract
