Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

You'll join PDSA Cardiff as a Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse in a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week. This is a fast-paced, rewarding role in a highly collaborative hospital where teamwork and shared learning are central to how things run. Every day brings variety: nurse consultations, inpatient care, medication dispensing, theatre support including Schedule 3 surgery, and close interaction with a wide range of clients and colleagues.

PDSA Cardiff operates modern, well-equipped facilities with separate dog and cat kennelling, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases and extensive orthopaedic equipment. The team has varied clinical interests, giving you access to a rich pool of knowledge and experience. You'll take pride in delivering high standards of nursing care while keeping pets calm and owners informed, and work as part of a close-knit team dedicated to the charity's mission of supporting pets whose owners face financial hardship.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct nurse consultations and provide inpatient nursing care across the hospital
• Dispense medications and support surgical theatre work, including Schedule 3 procedures
• Maintain high standards of nursing practice while keeping pets calm and clients informed
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment through case discussion and shared learning
• Champion the charity's values, promote client contributions, and identify opportunities for efficiency and improved resource use
• Work flexibly to support the hospital's operational needs while maintaining your own work-life balance

Requirements

• Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with current RCVS registration
• Confident communicator comfortable working with diverse colleagues and clients
• Ability to adapt to a wide variety of cases and a fast-paced environment
• Passion for animal welfare and commitment to delivering excellent care
• Team player with willingness to support and lead by example
• Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development
