Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

Petwell House Vets is expanding its veterinary team and seeking an experienced small animal vet to join their two-site independent practice in West London. You'll work a 4-day week (9am-7pm) with just 1:3 Saturday mornings (9am-12pm), with no out-of-hours or on-call duties thanks to outsourced emergency cover via NSVE. Your evenings, Sundays, and bank holidays are yours to enjoy.

This role offers genuine clinical autonomy. You'll work up cases the way you see fit, with full backing to pursue specialist interests, develop new services, and contribute to the strategic direction of the practice. The role sits alongside David, the Head of Clinic and Principal Vet, who joined in 2019 and was appointed Director in 2022. He brings extensive experience and a commitment to creating a positive, progressive environment where both patients and team thrive.

Both Hayes and Feltham clinics feature dedicated prep areas, theatres, diagnostic suites, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and full in-house Idexx lab facilities. Renovation of both clinics is planned for later this year, with dental X-ray investment on the horizon. You'll enjoy excellent transport links: the Elizabeth Line and National Rail connect you to central London, and Heathrow is minutes away.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver small animal general practice across consultations and procedures at both Hayes and Feltham sites
• Manage a balanced daily schedule: morning consults finish at 11:30am, afternoon procedures and admin work through to 4pm start of evening consults, final slot at 6:30pm
• Work independently with clinical confidence, supported by David and the team
• Develop and introduce new services aligned with your clinical interests and expertise
• Contribute to practice strategy and decision-making as an integral team member
• Participate in 1:3 Saturday morning rota (9am-12pm only)

Requirements

• RCVS registered veterinary surgeon
• Confident in sole charge working and small animal general practice
• Ambitious and ready to take on greater responsibility and strategic involvement
• Genuine interest in developing specialist areas or growing specific caseloads

Petwell House Vets is an established, independently owned small animal practice with two clinics in Hayes and Feltham, conveniently located near Heathrow Airport in West London. The friendly, caring team is dedicated to providing exceptional service and individually tailored, compassionate care. Their independence allows them to tailor services to each pet's unique needs.

Under the leadership of David, appointed Director in 2022, the practice has undergone significant transformation since 2019. David brings extensive small animal medicine experience with special interests in pet behaviour and exotic pets. Both clinics are being renovated this year as part of the practice's continued investment in facilities and services.
