About the Role
Richmond House Vets is relocating to a brand-new, purpose-built site near Mirfield, and they're looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to take the lead. This is a sole-charge position with a difference: you'll work autonomously but never feel isolated, with full clinical support from the wider Gatehouse Veterinary Group and an RVN-led team on site.
You'll mentor a newly qualified vet as they grow in confidence, help establish clinical protocols, and work towards PSS General Practice compliance. The practice boasts modern theatres, a dedicated dental suite, digital radiography, and separate species wardsāgiving you the facilities to deliver high-quality, genuinely enjoyable medicine. With 40 hours per week over 4ā5 days and Saturdays limited to one in four (8amā1pm), this role offers the rare combination of responsibility and genuine work-life balance. No out-of-hours commitment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in sole charge, supported by a dedicated RVN-led team
- Mentor and develop a new graduate vet, building their clinical confidence and independence
- Shape clinical standards, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives within the practice
- Contribute to PSS General Practice compliance and accreditation efforts
- Deliver high-quality small animal medicine across surgery, medicine, and dentistry
- Collaborate with the wider Gatehouse Veterinary Group on clinical governance and best practice
Requirements
- Experienced small animal veterinary surgeon, comfortable and confident in sole-charge work
- Supportive, approachable approach to mentoring and team development
- Passion for good clinical medicine, teamwork, and client care
- Registered with the RCVS
