Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This full-time RVN position offers the chance to deliver high-quality nursing care within a spacious, award-winning hospital set on the outskirts of Morpeth, Northumberland. You'll work 40 hours per week across 5 days, with a share of weekend and optional out-of-hours shifts (additional pay available for OOH participation). The practice is open to discussing part-time working options to suit your needs.

The mixed animal practice has a particular focus on exotics and is fully equipped with 4 theatres, separate dental, imaging, and radiography suites, individual wards for cats, dogs, exotics, and small mammals, a hydrotherapy treatment room, and facilities for equine and farm animal hospitalisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver clinical nursing care to first opinion cases across the practice
• Conduct nurse clinics and contribute to clinical standards
• Support theatre work and anaesthesia procedures
• Perform diagnostics and laboratory work
• Provide inpatient care and monitoring
• Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team
• Support ongoing development of patient care within the practice

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement

About the Practice

Robson & Prescott is an established mixed animal practice with 8 branches across Northumberland. The main hospital is at Whorral Bank, Morpeth, with branch surgeries in Alnwick, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Seaton Delaval, West Moor, and Morpeth town centre. The state-of-the-art Whorral Bank Hospital features four operating theatres, a dental suite, fully equipped diagnostic laboratory, x-ray room, ultrasound with doppler and endoscopy facilities, separate wards for dogs, cats, birds, small mammals and exotics, a physio and hydrotherapy suite, and six consulting rooms.
