Ready to make a real difference in animal welfare? Join the RSPCA's Leybourne Animal Centre as an apprentice and help rescue animals rebuild their lives with hands-on care, training, and genuine support.
You'll be at the heart of rescue animal care at Leybourne Animal Centre, working with dogs and cats recovering from cruelty and neglect. This is an 18-month fixed-term apprenticeship combining practical animal care with structured training, where 20% of your 35-hour week is dedicated to your qualification. The role is based in West Malling, Kent, with a 2-week rolling rota including every other weekend; hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch break, plus a requirement to work bank holidays. This is emotionally and physically demanding work, but deeply rewarding.
The centre cares for over 60 cats at any time, many recovering from trauma, alongside more than 40 dogs in state-of-the-art kennels designed for extended care during court proceedings. You'll be part of a collaborative team focused on rehabilitation and finding each animal a loving forever home.
The RSPCA is a registered charity (no. 219099) dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and promoting animal welfare across England and Wales.
