Ready to make a real difference in animal welfare? The RSPCA Newport Animal Centre is looking for a compassionate Animal Care Assistant to join a dedicated team caring for dogs and cats awaiting rehoming.
This is a 12-month fixed-term position at the RSPCA Newport Animal Centre, a vital hub for animal care located in Newport, South Wales near the M4. You'll work a full-time 35-hour week on an 08:30 to 16:30 shift pattern across a four-week rolling rota. The rota involves working two full weekends in succession, followed by one weekend off and one half-weekend worked.
Working with a smaller but dedicated team, you'll provide hands-on care for dogs and cats, many of whom have experienced neglect or abuse. This role combines practical animal husbandry with direct care responsibilities, supporting the centre's mission to rehabilitate and rehome animals. No two days are the same, and the work is rewarding but can be physically and emotionally demanding.
