Ready to make a real difference to rescued animals? Join the RSPCA Southridge Animal Centre as an Apprentice Animal Care Assistant and help traumatised cats and dogs rebuild their lives on an 18-month fixed-term contract.
You'll be at the heart of the RSPCA's rescue mission at Southridge Animal Centre, caring for animals recovering from cruelty and neglect. This is a hands-on apprenticeship working 35 hours per week, including every other weekend, with 20 percent of your time dedicated to your qualification. Hours run 8:30am to 4:30pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch break, and you'll be required to work bank holidays. The role is based on a two-week rolling rota.
The centre houses over 60 cats and more than 40 dogs at any time. Many animals require patient, gentle handling as they recover from trauma. Your practical contribution to their welfare, combined with structured training, creates a genuinely meaningful apprenticeship.
The RSPCA is a leading animal welfare charity in England and Wales, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals suffering from cruelty and neglect. Southridge Animal Centre is a modern facility featuring purpose-built kennels and a cattery designed specifically to meet the needs of rescue animals, many of whom are cruelty cases requiring extended care during legal proceedings.
The organisation actively encourages applications from diverse backgrounds and is committed to building an inclusive workplace where all staff are valued and supported.
