Theatre Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Southfields Veterinary Specialists is recruiting a dedicated Theatre RVN for a fixed-term contract to join its rapidly expanding surgical department. You'll work alongside consultants, residents, interns, and support staff, handling a varied caseload including orthopaedics, soft tissue, neurology, ophthalmology, and exotic cases. This is a rewarding and challenging role where your theatre expertise will directly shape the development of new procedures and departmental growth. The position involves a mix of early and late shifts, plus a 2:8 weekend rota with time off in lieu. You'll develop your career within a highly qualified, specialist-led team whilst contributing to the creation of standard operating procedures and training programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide sterile and circulating surgical support across the theatre suite
• Assist with surgical consultations and patient preparation from admission through to theatre
• Prepare theatres and theatre prep areas to the highest standards
• Monitor sedations and anaesthetics during procedures
• Assist with pre- and post-operative imaging and procedures
• Communicate post-operative care requirements to ward nursing staff
• Deliver theatre-based training to the wider team
• Develop and document standard operating procedures and audit systems
• Manage theatre stock and equipment

Requirements

• Current RVN registration with the RCVS
• Strong theatre experience and commitment to surgical standards
• Ability to work flexibly across early and late shifts, including weekend duties
• Teamwork, dedication, and a passion for patient care
• Willingness to contribute to procedure development and departmental growth
