Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

About the Role

This is a part-time small animal first opinion position working 30 hours over three days, with one Saturday shift every fourth Saturday (8am to 4:30pm only). You'll be joining an established practice in the charming village of Terrington St. Clement, within easy reach of the Norfolk coast, Sandringham, and King's Lynn.

You'll work collaboratively with a tight-knit clinical team to deliver high-standard patient and client care across a varied caseload. The practice emphasises ongoing professional development, mentorship, and a genuinely supportive culture where your contributions are valued and your growth is actively supported.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver first opinion small animal medical and surgical care to a established client base
• Collaborate with five RVNs and two SVNs to provide integrated patient care
• Contribute to the clinical culture by sharing knowledge and supporting colleague development
• Work as an integral member of a six-vet team with 78+ years cumulative experience
• Develop clinical skills and interests within a supportive, low-pressure environment

Requirements

• BVSc, BVetMed, or BVMS qualification with RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• Proactive approach to learning, openness to feedback, and commitment to professional development
• Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Genuine passion for delivering excellent patient and client care

About the Practice

Terrington Veterinary Centre is an independent small animal practice located in Terrington St. Clement, Norfolk. The practice maintains a strong local client base and community focus, with virtually no sole charge work. The team comprises six veterinary surgeons with substantial combined experience, supported by five qualified RVNs, two student veterinary nurses, and three patient care assistants.

The practice is well-equipped for routine and surgical work and benefits from a surgery certificate holder and two GDP advisors on the team. The culture is characterised by friendly, supportive vets and nurses with a strong sense of camaraderie.
