About the Role

The Laurels Vets is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its small animal team in Hereford. You’ll work across a varied first opinion caseload covering consultations, routine surgery, and dental procedures, supported by well-equipped facilities including digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, and laser therapy. The practice operates on a flexible basis—whether you’re seeking full-time or part-time hours, The Laurels is willing to tailor arrangements to suit your lifestyle and commitments.

Situated in the heart of Herefordshire, the practice serves both the historic city of Hereford and the picturesque village of Ewyas Harold. The area offers an excellent balance of vibrant community life and unspoilt rural countryside, with rolling hills, farmland, and direct access to the Golden Valley, Black Mountains, and Wye Valley. Hereford itself provides strong amenities, transport links, and cultural attractions, while Ewyas Harold offers close-knit village charm with strong local agricultural communities. Relocating to the area? The practice offers relocation support of up to £5,000 for the right candidate.

You’ll be joining IVC Evidensia, the UK and Europe’s leading veterinary care group comprising over 900 practices and referral hospitals. Key Responsibilities

  • Work up cases within a first opinion team, from initial consultations through to routine surgical and dental procedures
  • Utilise the on-site equipment (digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, laser therapy) and collaborate with local teams for specialist support when needed
  • Develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues
  • Contribute positively to the clinical culture of the practice, supporting the ongoing professional development of team members
  • Deliver high standards of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload
  • Work collaboratively with the wider practice team, including nursing and support staff

Requirements

  • Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development opportunities
  • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
