About the Role

You’ll step into a senior clinical leadership position at The Liverpool Vets, a well-established first-opinion practice right in the heart of Liverpool. This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) where you’ll balance hands-on clinical work with strategic practice leadership. Based less than half a mile from Liverpool Central train station, the location is ideal for commuters while still being embedded in a vibrant city practice.

The practice has invested in quality facilities: a dedicated cat ward, bright consulting rooms with natural light, 20-minute appointment slots, IDEXX in-house blood machines, and a top-end ultrasound system. You’ll work alongside an established, experienced veterinary team and supportive reception staff, with a large, quiet staff chill area upstairs—a rare luxury in practice life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire the veterinary team, driving clinical standards and fostering a culture of excellence
  • Deliver exceptional patient and client care, ensuring all treatment aligns with RCVS best practice standards
  • Support the Practice Director in maintaining and improving clinical standards, contributing to strategic decisions on service delivery and practice growth
  • Manage the veterinary team through regular one-to-ones, competency reviews, salary discussions, and rota planning in collaboration with the Practice Director
  • Collaborate on business performance, including budgeting, financial planning, and client service optimisation
  • Perform advanced clinical procedures, including emergency surgeries such as exploratory laparotomies, pleural effusion drainage, and feline urinary obstruction management
  • Champion innovation, introducing forward-thinking medical and surgical techniques to enhance patient outcomes
  • Build strong client relationships through gold-standard care and clear, compassionate communication
