About the Role

The Vets’ Place is a welcoming first-opinion small animal practice nestled in Wilmslow, a charming town that combines countryside appeal with convenient access to Manchester. This is a full-time nursing role (40 hours per week) with flexibility built in—part-time and 4-day week options are available. You’ll work alternating weekly shifts of 7:45am–4:15pm and 10:00am–6:30pm, plus a manageable 1:4 Saturday morning rota (8:30am–12:30pm) with time off in lieu the following week. You’ll be part of a clinical team of six Veterinary Surgeons and six Registered Veterinary Nurses, each with distinct clinical interests including behaviour, feline medicine, wound management, nutrition, and anaesthesia. The practice also hosts visiting surgical and imaging specialists, giving you exposure to a broader and more varied caseload than typical first-opinion practice.

This varied role spans both medical and surgical nursing, inpatient care, and nurse-led consultations. You’ll contribute to clinical standards, support ongoing patient care development, and work in a genuinely collaborative environment that values your input.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the six veterinary surgeons and wider practice team to maintain clinical standards
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of patient care protocols within the practice

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse (or second-year Student Veterinary Nurses also encouraged to apply)
  • Experience working in a clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
  • A proactive, reflective approach to learning and continuous professional improvement
  • Team-orientated mindset with genuine enthusiasm for quality patient care

Benefits

  • Leave: 6.6 weeks’ annual leave plus your birthday off, with increasing holiday allowance based on length of service
  • Family support: Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay
  • Professional development: £550 CPD allowance with 24 hours paid leave; RCVS and VDS fees covered; certificate support available
  • Health & wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance, Healthcare Cash Plan, and Cycle to Work scheme
  • Pension: Company pension scheme
  • Perks: Discounted veterinary care for you and your pets; Green Cars salary sacrifice scheme; access to hundreds of retail discounts and cashback via voluntary benefits
