Join a supportive equine team in the beautiful Scottish Borders with genuine emphasis on professional development, flexible working patterns, and shared OOH rota. A confident, passionate equine vet looking to grow clinically will thrive here.
Equal share of out-of-hours rota with time off in-lieu for weekends on call
This is an exciting opportunity to join the established equine team at Galedin Vets' Duns branch. The practice is replacing two departing part-time vets and seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon with a passion for equine practice and commitment to ongoing clinical development. You'll work within a busy, varied equine caseload as part of a collaborative, well-supported team that genuinely invests in professional development.
Most colleagues work 4.5 or 4-day weeks with flexibility available. The role includes an equal share of the out-of-hours rota, with time off in-lieu for weekends on call. Based in rural Duns, you'll be within an hour's drive of Edinburgh, enjoying the Scottish Borders' countryside, coast, and community while maintaining easy access to urban amenities.
Galedin Veterinary is a large mixed practice serving the Scottish Borders, East Lothian, and North Northumberland. It holds RCVS Accreditation as an Equine Ambulatory Practice and RCVS Approval as a Graduate Development Practice. The practice is on the BEVA AI List and a member of the BEVA Safer Horse Rescue Scheme. The team is committed to supporting vets' career progression, with many undertaking further postgraduate qualifications and certificates. As part of the VetPartners group, the practice benefits from a strong emphasis on team culture and support, having been recognised as an Employer of the Year.
