Lead Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This Lead Veterinary Surgeon role gives you the freedom to bring your leadership style and ideas to the clinic while staying closely involved in clinical work. You'll be responsible for helping build strong relationships with the local community, supporting an outstanding client experience and maintaining excellent clinical standards.

The role is suited to an experienced vet who is ready to take the next step, whether you are already working as a Lead Vet or looking for a leadership opportunity. You'll also help recruit, lead and develop the team, create a positive culture and support the future development of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent clinical care to clients and patients.
• Build strong client relationships and help grow the client base.
• Recruit, lead and develop the team.
• Create a positive culture and outstanding client experience.
• Take ownership of the clinic's future development.
• Carry out patient consultations and procedures.
• Oversee patient care, monitoring, records, admissions and discharges.
• Handle client concerns, complaints, estimates and clinical communications.
• Support compliance, health and safety, lab testing and clinical handovers.
• Work with the Practice Manager on commercial performance and clinic growth.
• Mentor colleagues and support best practice across the clinic and wider Medivet community.

Requirements

• Must be an RCVS registered veterinary surgeon.
• Experienced in delivering exceptional clinical care to clients and patients.
• Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
• Understanding of how exceptional care improves the client experience.
• Knowledge of driving strong commercial performance through clinical activity.
• Able to work well as part of a team.
• Experienced in coaching and influencing colleagues.
• Experience of progressive clinical culture is required.
