Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This full-time, permanent position offers excellent work-life balance in a busy, well-established small animal practice. You'll enjoy a 4-day working week with shifts of 8:00am to 6:00pm or 9:00am to 7:00pm, combining theatre, prep, and nurse consulting duties. The rota includes 1 in 8 weekends at the Brighton hospital (with Monday off in lieu) and 1 in 14 weeks on the second on-call rota, giving you a genuine variety in your caseload and genuine flexibility.

Based in the charming coastal town of Shoreham-by-Sea, this role puts you in an enviable location. Spend your days off enjoying stunning beaches, coastal walks, the South Downs National Park, and easy access to Brighton's vibrant culture and restaurants, with transport links to London.

Coastway Vets is part of a group of 6 RCVS-accredited practices across East and West Sussex, supported by a purpose-built hospital in Brighton providing emergency and out-of-hours care. The team here is supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate, with numerous certificate holders happy to mentor and inspire others.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional patient care across theatre, preparation, and nurse consulting duties
• Support colleagues and maintain high clinical standards within a collaborative, well-established team
• Contribute to a varied and interesting caseload that allows you to utilise the full breadth of your nursing skills
• Build strong relationships with clients and colleagues, ensuring excellent communication

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
• Experience supporting colleagues and maintaining clinical standards
• Ability to thrive in a busy environment and remain calm under pressure
• Passion for animal welfare and delivering outstanding patient care
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach
• Commitment to ongoing professional development

• Salary: £32,000 to £35,000 depending on experience
