Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a senior small animal vet opportunity for an experienced clinician joining the Duns branch of Galedin Vets. The practice is based in the beautiful rural Scottish Borders, with Edinburgh within an hour's drive.

You will be part of a mixed practice with excellent small animal facilities in newly moved premises. The team uses modern diagnostic equipment including new DR x-ray, dental x-ray and good quality ultrasound, and the role offers first opinion work with clinical freedom to follow cases up.

Most vets work a 4.5 day week, with some flexibility available. The role currently includes out-of-hours on-call duties with time in lieu for nights and weekends, on a 1 in 8 rota and 1 in 4 Saturday mornings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first opinion small animal veterinary care at the Duns branch.
• Work cases through with clinical freedom and follow up where needed.
• Take part in the out-of-hours on-call rota, including nights, weekends and Saturday mornings.
• Support and guide younger colleagues as they develop their skills.
• Contribute ideas and case discussions within a supportive, collaborative vet team.

Requirements

• Experienced vet.
• Confident small animal clinician.
• Comfortable taking a senior position.
• Willing to mentor and guide younger colleagues.
• Enjoys working as part of an experienced, enthusiastic team.
