Ready for a role where you're genuinely valued and supported? Join a warm, close-knit Hertford practice with no out-of-hours, flexible hours, and a £1,000 welcome bonus.
This is a full-time position based in Hertford with genuine flexibility. You'll enjoy no out-of-hours shifts, no Sunday working, and just one Saturday in three (9am-1pm) with time off in lieu or additional pay. Weekday shifts run 8:45am to 5:15pm or 10:45am to 7:15pm, giving you real control over your schedule.
You'll be joining a purposefully designed, well-equipped practice in the charming market town of Hertford. The team is small and genuinely supportive, with 2 vets, a head nurse, and a close-knit non-clinical team. Every nurse is actively involved across all areas of clinical care, from anaesthesia and inpatient management to nurse-led consultations, laboratory work, and theatre duties. This isn't a role where you feel like a number; your ideas matter and your wellbeing is respected.
The practice has a loyal client base and prioritises time for quality care, with non-routine consultations allocated 30 minutes. You'll also benefit from regular visiting specialists in cardiology, diagnostic imaging, and orthopaedics, offering excellent learning opportunities.
Hertford Vets for Pets is a purpose-built clinic offering a calm, welcoming environment for clients and staff. Part of the broader Vets for Pets group (owned by Pets at Home), the practice combines the support of a larger organisation with the intimate, supportive culture of an independent team.
The clinic is well-equipped with separate cat and dog wards, an isolation unit, sterile theatre, digital X-ray and ultrasound, in-house laboratory with microscope, and capnography with pulse oximetry. The team of 2 vets, a head nurse, and non-clinical staff work collaboratively to prioritise both patient care and colleague wellbeing.
