About the Role

This maternity cover Registered Veterinary Nurse role is based in Stockton-on-Tees and is offered full time, with part time considered. An immediate start is available, and the rota includes a shared Saturday morning commitment of 1 in 6, with no Sundays.

You'll be joining a successful, established practice with a team of five nurses, five vets, receptionists and a practice manager. The practice is owned and run by a husband and wife, has grown steadily over the last 18 years, and combines an independent feel with Vets for Pets support behind it.

The nursing team is encouraged to work to their full potential, with opportunities to carry out Schedule 3 procedures and support a wide range of surgical work. The role also offers scope to build on your skills in a practice with a strong focus on quality medicine, surgery and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out nursing duties across anaesthesia, radiography, in-patient care, blood pressure monitoring, consultations and nurse clinics.
• Support post-operative care and in-house laboratory work.
• Assist vets with a wide range of surgeries.
• Use Schedule 3 permissions as part of day-to-day clinical nursing.
• Contribute to a positive team culture within a nurse training practice.

About the Practice

The practice has been steadily growing for 18 years and is owned and run by a husband and wife. It is backed by the Vets for Pets support structure while retaining the feel of an independent practice.

It is a nurse training practice, RCVS Practice Standards Scheme GP accredited, and has a certificate holder in diagnostic imaging. Facilities listed include digital x-ray, multiparameter monitoring, an in-house laboratory, ultrasound and an operating theatre.
