Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is a Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse role for an experienced RVN who is ready for the next step. At Vets for Pets Worcester, you'll join a practice handling advanced imaging, complex surgery and a broad small animal caseload, with the chance to build strong perioperative and diagnostic skills.

The rota is full time, with 8-hour shifts, paid lunch breaks, paid overtime and 1 in 3 weekends. The practice is open 7 days a week, so the schedule is structured around that pattern.

As a senior nurse, you'll take on more clinical responsibility, support newly qualified and student nurses, and help shape their development day to day. This is a role for someone who wants to grow into greater authority while staying hands-on with interesting clinical work.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver senior nursing support across advanced imaging, anaesthesia, monitoring and complex surgical cases.
• Use experience gained from a wide range of procedures, including orthopaedics, laparoscopic surgery, laser surgery and advanced soft tissue work.
• Support newly qualified and student nurses in their day to day development.
• Take greater clinical responsibility across the practice's full caseload and equipment.
• Help maintain the standards and clinical consistency expected within a progressive small animal practice.

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse status.
• Solid post-registration experience, with the advert stating 3+ years post-registration experience.
• Confidence running your own clinical work.
• Ability to support and mentor other nurses.
• A calm head under pressure.
• Ambition toward practice leadership or clinical specialism.

About the Practice

Vets for Pets Worcester is a small animal practice in Worcester, Worcestershire, and is part of the Vets for Pets group. The advert says it has been named Practice of the Year within the group in 2017 and Best Vets in Worcestershire in 2024 and 2025.

Under Head Vet Jonathan Niccol, the practice has grown over 15 years into one of the most progressive in the region. Its facilities include a Siemens 64-slice CT scanner on site, advanced ultrasound, POCUS and FAST scanning, echocardiography, and a flexible and rigid endoscopy suite.
