This apprenticeship position offers a structured entry point into veterinary nursing at a small animal practice located inside Pets at Home in Shrewsbury. You'll work full-time (38.5 hours per week), including one in three Saturday mornings, with flexible shifts starting at 8:15am or finishing at 7pm. You'll be enrolled on a day-release apprenticeship course at a local college, attending one day per week while gaining hands-on experience in practice.
You'll start with front-of-house duties based at the reception desk, greeting clients and their pets, before progressing into clinical support roles as you develop. With training and time, you'll move towards running your own nurse clinics, monitoring anaesthetics, and managing patient care. Every day brings variety: answering phones, booking appointments, supporting the clinical team, patient care, lab work, and administrative tasks.
