Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

Vets4Pets Gloucester Barnwood is looking for a Veterinary Care Assistant to join the team on a full-time basis. The role is Monday to Friday, with shifts between 8am and 7pm, and there are no weekends required at present. The practice is also closed on Bank Holidays, although the weekend pattern may change in the future.

This is a client-facing position for someone who enjoys working with people and their pets. You will be part of a caring, progressive team where a positive attitude, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in veterinary care really matter.

Key Responsibilities

• Be the welcoming first point of contact for clients and their pets when they arrive at the practice.
• Deliver a friendly and helpful customer experience at the front desk.
• Support clients by staying up to date with the practice services and any additional services available.
• Build strong relationships with clients, their pets and the wider veterinary team.
• Work proactively as part of the team to support the veterinary staff.
• Help create a calm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the practice.
• Respond with empathy when clients need support, including during difficult or emotional moments.

Requirements

• An interest in veterinary care.
• Enjoyment of client interaction and helping people and their pets.
• A calm, attentive and customer-focused approach.
• Enthusiasm, drive and commitment to caring for animals.
• The ability to work well as part of a team.
• Previous experience in the veterinary industry would be advantageous.
