Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position based in Luton, working on a rota between 8:30am and 7pm, with every other Saturday 9am to 4pm. There are no Sunday or out-of-hours shifts. You'll join a well-established small animal practice with a strong clinical team comprising five vets, one head nurse, one deputy head nurse, three RVNs, two student nurses, and one existing VCA, plus dedicated customer care and reception staff.

Your day-to-day work will focus on supporting the clinical team across all aspects of animal care, including feeding, handling, and walking patients. You'll assist with cleaning and stocking, and contribute to general reception and administration tasks as needed. The practice is modern and well-equipped, creating an environment where you can develop practical skills while providing excellent patient and client care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients including feeding, handling, and exercise
• Support nursing and clinical staff during consultations and procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and stock levels across the practice
• Assist with reception and administrative duties
• Deliver high standards of animal welfare in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

• Genuine interest in animal welfare and veterinary care
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a cheerful, hardworking attitude
• Previous animal care experience beneficial but not essential; full training will be provided
• Full UK driving licence and vehicle advantageous
