Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

This is a full-time position offering 40 hours per week in a modern, purpose-built practice that opened in summer 2025. You'll work Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm, with Saturday mornings on a 1 in 2 rota, and enjoy the rare benefit of zero out-of-hours commitments. Your role sits at the heart of patient care, supporting the clinical team and ensuring every client and their pet receives a warm, professional experience from arrival onwards.

Based in Whetstone, North London, the practice benefits from excellent transport links into Central London, easy access to the A1 and M25, and a vibrant suburban setting with cafés, restaurants, shops and green spaces. You'll be part of a small, close-knit team in a facility specifically designed for both outstanding clinical care and an enjoyable working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the clinical team with patient care and handling
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the practice
• Prepare equipment and consulting rooms for appointments
• Support inpatient care and monitoring
• Provide warm, professional client care and reception support
• Work proactively as part of the team while using your own initiative

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a veterinary practice, ideally as a Veterinary Care Assistant
• Passion for animal welfare and exceptional patient care
• Excellent communication and client care skills
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
• Organised, proactive approach with a genuine desire to learn
• Pride in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment
• Enthusiasm for helping to grow and shape a new practice

About the Practice

Vets for Pets opened its Whetstone branch in summer 2025 as a purpose-built facility designed to deliver outstanding clinical care while creating an enjoyable working environment. The practice is led by a committed clinical team focused on collaboration and excellence in patient care.

Facilities include digital radiography, a dedicated operating theatre, separate dog and cat wards with an isolation facility, and a spacious colleague break room.
