Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You'll be the welcoming first point of contact for clients and their pets, creating a positive experience from the moment they step through the door. This full-time role spans two locations—Selly Oak and Quinton—with a manageable 1-in-3 Saturday rota, working 40 hours per week. Your focus will be building strong relationships with clients and their pets while coordinating the smooth day-to-day running of the practices using online booking systems.

The role demands calm, attentive professionalism as you manage payments, book future appointments, and provide expert guidance on practice services. You'll be the crucial link between clients and the clinical team, ensuring every visit leaves pets and their owners feeling valued and confident in the care they've received.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism, setting the tone for their visit
• Manage client payments and coordinate future appointment bookings using practice management systems
• Provide knowledgeable guidance on practice services and additional offerings available
• Support the clinical team by ensuring smooth day-to-day practice operations
• Handle client queries with empathy—from comforting clients during difficult news to celebrating first puppy visits
• Create and maintain a welcoming, friendly atmosphere across both practice locations

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a receptionist (essential)
• Strong computer literacy and comfort with online booking systems
• Excellent client service skills and ability to build relationships
• Calm, attentive approach to managing busy periods and unexpected situations
• Genuine passion for pets and enthusiasm for helping people
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere
