Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

Vets4Pets Gateshead is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Receptionist to join the team on a part-time basis. This is a 20 hour per week role, worked Monday to Saturday on a rota that includes a mix of morning and evening shifts, with Saturdays covered on a rotating basis.

The practice describes itself as individually locally owned and managed, and a 100% small animal practice with a strong client base. You will be part of a team that takes pride in the care and service it provides, and full training will be given to the right person.

Key Responsibilities

• Greeting clients and welcoming them into the practice
• Answering phones and managing emails and digital messages
• Handling administration tasks, including inpatient paperwork, insurance claim forms and daily cashing up
• Providing clear communication between clients and the veterinary team
• Booking appointments, processing prescription orders and maintaining accurate client and patient records on the practice management system
• Keeping the reception area tidy and welcoming
• Guiding clients through health plan options, with full training provided

Requirements

• A warm, confident manner with clients, both in person and on the phone
• The ability to stay calm and multi-task in a busy environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues
• Relevant customer-facing experience
• Veterinary or reception experience is welcome but not essential
• Comfortable using computers and carrying out basic administration
