You'll be joining a modern, well-maintained small animal practice in Blackwood, South Wales, just a few minutes' walk from the bustling town centre. The location offers excellent access to Cardiff (15 miles away), the Welsh coast, and the Brecon Beacon Mountains, with ample on-site and road parking plus excellent public transport links.
The practice handles a diverse caseload, from routine surgeries and clinics to complex orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries, echocardiography, and a significant exotic animal clientele. You'll see approximately 6,000 patients from a 25-mile radius, including dogs, cats, rabbits, small mammals, and exotic species such as sugar gliders, skunks, hedgehogs, reptiles, and birds of prey.
This small animal practice has been locally owned for 10 years and is led by practice owner Jordi Colas MCRVS and Senior Vet Corina MCRVS. The team benefits from a dedicated Practice Manager, Clair, who provides non-clinical leadership and support. The practice has invested significantly in diagnostic, surgical, monitoring, and therapeutic equipment, including comprehensive in-house laboratory facilities (biochemistry, haematology, cellular analysis, microscopy), orthopaedic equipment, digital and 3D X-ray, ultrasound, multi-parameter monitors, Class 4 laser, and access to endoscopy. The practice serves approximately 4,500 clients and is one of the few exotic animal specialists in the area. Four separate kennels areas accommodate dogs, cats, exotics, and isolation cases.
