Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This full-time Veterinary Surgeon position is based in a friendly, progressive small animal practice with no out-of-hours. The role is for 40 hours per week, with some flexibility, plus 1 in 3 Saturdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

You will be joining a varied caseload that includes routine consultations, preventative healthcare and standard surgery, alongside advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue work. There is particular exposure to TPLO, arthroscopy, endoscopy and regenerative medicine, with mentoring available for vets who want to develop their surgical skills further.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver consultations, preventative healthcare and routine surgical procedures
• Work on a varied caseload that includes trauma and non-trauma orthopaedic and soft tissue cases
• Contribute to advanced procedures such as TPLO, arthroscopy, endoscopy and regenerative medicine
• Work independently when needed while remaining part of a collaborative team
• Build strong relationships with clients and colleagues

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a UK small animal practice or hospital
• Confidence with consultations and routine surgery
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently when required
• Commitment to continuing professional development

About the Practice

Caerphilly Vets for Pets is a small, locally owned practice that has served the Caerphilly community for over 11 years. It is owned and led by Maciej, PhD, MRCVS, GPAdvCert (SAOS), whose interests include orthopaedics, stem cell therapy, arthroscopy and endoscopy.

The practice is part of the Vets for Pets network and combines that wider support with a close-knit local team. The team includes 3 Veterinary Surgeons, 4 qualified Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 Student Veterinary Nurse, a dedicated reception team and a Practice Manager.
