Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

You'll be joining Colne Vets for Pets after their recent expansion, working in a modern practice with four consultation rooms, dedicated dental and imaging suite, separate induction and prep areas, and a spacious staff room. This full-time role offers a manageable 1:4 Saturday rota (9am to 5:30pm) with no Sunday or out-of-hours work after 7pm, giving you genuine work-life balance. The practice is perfectly positioned on the edge of town, just a quarter mile from the M65 and train station, making it commutable from North Manchester whilst sitting at the base of the Pennines for outdoor activities on your days off.

You'll be an experienced veterinary surgeon confident in routine surgery, or a certificate holder actively working towards advanced qualifications. The team actively supports CPD and professional development, so if you're looking to progress your skills, this is the right environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality small animal clinical care across a varied caseload
• Perform routine and advanced surgical procedures with support from the surgical team
• Work up cases in-house where possible to provide continuity of care, with in-house referral opportunities available
• Utilise the practice's equipment including doppler ultrasound, operating loupes, electrosurgery unit, tonometry, dental x-ray, and growing orthopaedic kit
• Complete laboratory work using invue and sedivue systems
• Conduct 20-minute consultation appointments with built-in catch-up and admin time of over one hour rostered daily
• Contribute to a Fear Free, Dogs Trust Dog Friendly, PSS-accredited, Cat Friendly Silver, and Rabbit Friendly practice culture

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon with experience in routine small animal surgery
• Certificate holder or actively working towards a certificate in a clinical discipline
• Confident in working up cases and exploring clinical possibilities
• Flexible approach to the right candidate, including part-time options

Benefits

• Salary: £55,000 to £75,000 FTE, depending on experience and qualifications
