You'll be the fifth veterinary surgeon joining Eastwood Vets for Pets, a thriving small animal practice with an expanding caseload and a genuinely collaborative culture. This is a full-time, daytime-only role with Saturday morning cover on a 1-in-4 rota (9am to 4pm, with time off in lieu) but absolutely no night shifts or overnight on-call duties. The practice sits in a convenient location between Nottingham and Derby, just 20 minutes from each, close to East Midlands Airport, and within 10 minutes of Ilkeston train station.
You'll work alongside Jon, the Practice Owner, who holds certificates in small animal surgery, exotic animal practice, and advanced small animal surgery with a special interest in zoological medicine and endosurgery. He's genuinely invested in supporting colleagues to develop their own veterinary careers. The wider team includes three other vets, a Head Nurse, seven qualified nurses, one student nurse, a veterinary care assistant, a practice manager, and three client care advisors. This is a close-knit group who genuinely enjoy each other's company, regularly socialising together.
The practice has invested in excellent facilities and advanced diagnostic equipment, including an endoscope. You'll also have the opportunity to support Nottingham Vet School's exotic rotations as a clinical associate, helping to mentor the next generation of vets.
